River Post-Traumatic Stress Services Presents “Heart to Hands” Art Exhibit Celebrating Healing Through Creativity

River Hospital Post-Traumatic Stress Services are proud to announce the upcoming Heart to Hands Art Exhibit, a special community event showcasing artwork created by participants of the River Post-Traumatic Stress Services program. The exhibit highlights the powerful connection between creativity, healing, and personal growth through traumatic experience.

The Heart to Hands Art Exhibit will feature a variety of original pieces created through therapeutic expression, offering insight into the resilience, strength, and journeys of individuals impacted by trauma. Through painting, drawing, mixed media, and other artistic mediums, participants have transformed personal experiences into meaningful works of art designed to inspire conversation, understanding, and hope.

River Hospital began offering mental health services in 2013 in response to the growing need for mental health treatment for active duty soldiers suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Since opening, River Post-Traumatic Stress Services has treated hundreds of soldiers with combat-related and non-combat related PTSD and other trauma-stressor related disorders. Each of our soldiers who attends our Partial Hospitalization Program participates in Art Therapy group as part of their treatment journey.

“This exhibit is an opportunity for our participants to share their voices in a unique and impactful way,” said Brad Frey, River Hospital’s Director of Behavioral Health and Medical Staff President.  “Art can be an important part of the healing process, and we are honored to provide a space where these stories and talents can be celebrated by the community.”

Community members are invited to attend the exhibit and support the artists while learning more about the services and support available through River Post-Traumatic Stress Services. The event aims to foster awareness surrounding trauma, mental health, and the importance of compassionate care and connection.
