River Hospital Convenient Care will soon be changing their hours of operation to better suit the needs of the community. Convenient Care will be open Monday through Friday 8:00am until 6:00pm and Saturday 9:00am until 3:00pm. RHCC is located on the second floor of the Hospital, and is staffed by a physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant and registered nurses.

Dr. Alfredo Torres, Convenient Care director, says the new hours will better fit the needs of patients. “We need to continue to improve our services and do what’s best for our patients based on their feedback,” he says. “Extending our hours during the week and adding Saturday hours will serve the needs of the patients better by offering an opportunity to access Convenient Care after typical work hours.”

Convenient Care’s goal is to provide minor urgent health care services for patients who cannot wait for a normal appointment with their primary care providers, or have an urgent need not requiring the Emergency Department. Providers and nurses at Convenient Care treat a wide-variety of non-threatening medical conditions ranging from symptoms associated with cold and flu, to mild allergic reactions, pink eye and headaches.

Convenient Care does not accept walk-in appointments. Instead, patients are asked to call 315-482-1125 and schedule a same-day appointment, which are offered in 15 minute increments throughout the day. This allows patients to be treated quickly upon arrival, reducing wait times. All calls will be answered by a registered nurse who will discuss the patient’s problem with the caller and make a decision based upon the patient’s symptoms and the criteria established for RHCC, as to whether the person is a candidate to be seen there.
