A Macsherry Education Fund Supports Professional Growth for River Hospital Employees

River Hospital is proud to recognize Dick and Deb Macsherry for their continued investment in the professional growth and development of hospital staff through the Macsherry Staff Education Fund.

Established to support continuing education, certifications, and career advancement opportunities for River Hospital employees, the fund reflects the Macsherrys’ belief that a hospital’s greatest asset is its people.

Since its creation, the fund has helped employees across multiple departments pursue specialized training and professional credentials, strengthening both individual careers and the quality of care available throughout the Thousand Islands region.

In 2025 alone, 14 employees received support through the fund, including certifications in emergency nursing, information technology security, occupational therapy, and behavioral health.

This year, Dick and Deb expanded their commitment, increasing the fund to $85,000. Current recipients include two nurses pursuing advanced nursing certifications and one employee working toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

For prospective employees considering a career in rural healthcare, the fund sends a powerful message: River Hospital invests in its people.

“Professional growth opportunities are essential to attracting and retaining talented healthcare professionals,” said Kelley Tieman, Chief Executive Officer. “The Macsherry Education Fund helps us support our employees as they build their careers while continuing to serve the communities that rely on River Hospital.”

As healthcare continues to evolve, ongoing education remains critical to delivering high-quality patient care. Through their generosity, Dick and Deb Macsherry are helping ensure that River Hospital staff have access to the tools, training, and opportunities they need to thrive, which in turn is strengthening the future of healthcare in the Thousand Islands, one employee at a time.
