River Hospital Aims to bridge the mind-body divide in healthcare with addition of new Integrated Medical Director

It is with great pleasure that River Hospital announces the appointment of Dr. Mohammad Basil Amin, MD as the new Integrated Medical Director of Primary Care and Behavioral Health.

In this new role, Dr. Amin will be responsible for the oversight of the primary care and behavioral health integration effort. In his position he will be responsible for clinical supervision and mentorship of Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Social Workers and other health care personnel within the River Hospital Family Health Center and The River Hospital Community Wellness Program.

Dr. Amin was born and raised in Pakistan and graduated from the Nistar Medical College of Pakistan. He went on to complete his medical and surgical residency in Pakistan before attending Seton Hall University where he completed his internal medicine residency. After several years as serving as both an emergency room physician and staff physician, Dr. Amin went on to obtain a fellowship in addiction medicine from Boston University Medical Center.

Dr. Amin brings years of experience as a physician working closely with an integrated care model. As a primary care provider, he specializes in both internal medicine and addiction services. In this capacity, he can oversee the partnership of River Hospital’s medical and mental health resources to provide integrated care that focuses on achieving the best patient-centered outcomes.

Through the addition of this position, River Hospital demonstrates a commitment to the implementation of integrated care models and creative solutions to continuously meet the needs of our patients.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Amin as part of our care team to bring both behavioral health and primary care support directly to our patients”, said Emily Mastaler, Chief Executive Officer of River Hospital. “We know the value of having healthcare close to home and are committed to providing our patients with local access to high-quality, holistic care. Behavioral health is critical to overall health, and the addition of Dr. Amin helps us close that care gap.”

“It is a privilege to be a part of this integration effort at River Hospital,” said Dr. Amin, MD. “Primary care providers are often responsible for treating behavioral health conditions, especially in rural communities. River Hospital continues to implement innovative models and solutions to meet the needs of their patients, and I’m proud to support their integration of high-quality behavioral health services into primary care.”

Dr. Amin is now accepting patients at River Hospital Family Health Center. If you would like more information on family healthcare or behavioral health services, or to become a patient at River Hospital Family Health Center, please call (315) 482-2094.
