The swish of long gowns skimming the ballroom floor will take you back to the Gilded Age of the 1000 Islands region when the Boldt Castle Gala returns on Saturday, August 25, 2012. This black-tie affair, featuring music for dancing and elegant refreshments, is held as a benefit for River Hospital.
The Boldt Castle Gala, first held in 2004, formally wraps up the summer in grace and style. An annual event for a few years, the 2012 Gala will be the first since 2007. In the setting of a magnificent castle, the evening is reminiscent of the opulent grand balls held during the heyday of the 1000 Islands in the late 1900s.
Thanks to the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority and the staff at Boldt Castle, Ron and Corinne Thomson of Uncle Sam Boat Tours, as well as numerous volunteers, contributors and caterers over the years, the Boldt Castle Gala has become a momentous fund raising event for River Hospital.
